VIDEO: Cypress Hills and the Big Country | Colter Wall | Official Audio
New Colter Wall song, "Cypress Hills and the Big Country", is an original song written about Colter’s homeland and working relationship with that land. Released by La Honda Records on September 21, 2022, the song is one of two singles Colter recorded at Jereco Studios in Bozeman, Montana, just south of of native Saskatchewan, where he currently lives and ranches. Accompanying the track is longtime friend and collaborator of Colter’s, Patrick Lyons, who has both been a member of his backing band, The Scary Prairie Boys. Most recently audiences heard Lyons on Colter’s Live in front of Nobody live studio performance. Listeners first heard Lyons with Colter in the studio on singles, "Happy Reunion" and "Bob Fudge." Acclaimed album Western Swing & Waltzes and Other Punchy Songs also featured Lyons on several instruments.
Engineering this song was Luke Scheeler, at his Jereco Studios in Montana. Mike Monseur mastered the track. Another taste of Colter as producer, the song is strings only, waiving percussion for a more melodic and soft call to the reverence for landscape and bucolic living.
